How "closed" is London over the Christmas holiday?

Posted by admin on Sep 18, 2009 under christmas holiday

I am going to be in London over Christmas week (23 December to 28 December). I have been to London many times, but never over a major holiday. Is it hard to get around, do things, or go out to eat on Christmas Day? What about on Christmas Eve? Is Boxing Day a huge "closed" holiday?

Thanks! I am excited to see the city at Christmastime!

There is no public transport on Christmas Day, though it is possible to get around by minicab or taxi for a premium fare.

Some restaurants are open, though you would need to book in advance.

The only shops that are open are a few local convenience stores.

Christmas Eve and Boxing Day are pretty normal, though with a reduced public transport service on Boxing Day. Some places of interest and shops open on Boxing Day, others are closed.

How long the christmas holiday will last in your country?

How long the christmas holiday will last in your country?I just want to know.

Here in the Philippines, Christmas holiday actually starts as early as September and ends until the celebration of the Three Kings, which i think is the first Sunday of January. "ber" months, as we call it, you start hearing Christmas songs being played on the radio and malls at this time are already preparing christmas displays. We can’t help it, we love the holiday so much that we make it a little bit longer the usual.
