How "closed" is London over the Christmas holiday?
I am going to be in London over Christmas week (23 December to 28 December). I have been to London many times, but never over a major holiday. Is it hard to get around, do things, or go out to eat on Christmas Day? What about on Christmas Eve? Is Boxing Day a huge "closed" holiday?
Thanks! I am excited to see the city at Christmastime!
There is no public transport on Christmas Day, though it is possible to get around by minicab or taxi for a premium fare.
Some restaurants are open, though you would need to book in advance.
The only shops that are open are a few local convenience stores.
Christmas Eve and Boxing Day are pretty normal, though with a reduced public transport service on Boxing Day. Some places of interest and shops open on Boxing Day, others are closed.
