I’m Planning a Holiday Work Christmas Party & Need Ideas!?

Posted by admin on Nov 30, 2009 under christmas holiday decor

Hey,

My mom & I are trying to come up with an in-expensive holiday Christmas party for the employees & their spouses (about 25 people total) …We don’t want to go through a catering company since they charge extra fees & are pretty outrageous on their prices.

What are some ideas for affordable foods & decor? We already have some gifts & the holiday tree/garland, etc… but what are some good foods to serve for 25 people that aren’t really expensive??

Thanks

I just provided food for a group of 50 for under $100.

We fried to bags of wings from Sams (try Wal-Mart or Cotsco). as well as a fruit tray, veggie tray, and a variety of cookies (M&M, Choc. chip, oatmeal raisen, sugar, whit choc. chip macadamea) along with a Variety of drinks.

For classy-looking decorations use scented pine cones, mini wreaths, and a variety of pine items. Add lights and/or white candles in a variety of sizes. Maybe even add some mistletoe and a poinsettia.

See the image below for an idea:

I don’t think so. If you don’t enjoy the christmas music just change the station…not all them play it.

CHRISTMAS AT THE WHITE HOUSE ~ 2009?

Posted by admin on Nov 30, 2009 under christmas holiday decor

Fact or Fiction? Reports are that the decorations and trees at the White House this year are not being called CHRISTMAS, but HOLIDAY Trees and decor!
Mr. Obama has stated that we are no longer a CHRISTIAN country in a recent speech to world leaders.
Comments???
I am surprised at the lack of comments on this. Either way you must have an opinion?

Opposed to what president Obama stated about the United States not being a christian country…he is completely mistaken. And if he doesn’t want to call the trees and decor Christmas but Holiday than thats fine by me…but he better not on December 25 be giving gifts to his children, or having a huge celebration…because only christians celebrate christmas. and he can’t have it both ways. I’m upset that people don’t want to consider themselves christians, or believe in God but they do want to partake in the Christian holidays, and when it comes to working they love having the christian holidays off. Some things never fail to amaze me!

I need some holiday decor help!?

Posted by admin on Nov 30, 2009 under christmas holiday decor

I need somthing cheap, even somthings around the house, to decorate for christmas. See we lost all of out christmas stuff in a storm and that realy made my mom upset so im looking for this to decorate with, if theres good deals at walmart that would even help. i plan on gathering up everything and suprising her one mornig with a nice decorated home!

Actually, I’m finding that Big Lots and Dollar Stores have way cheaper holiday decorations this year than WalMart. Check the landscaping around your yard and your neighbors. I have 3 pine trees on my property and often trim the boughs to make wreaths and garlands. You can use the 3M command hooks and some floral wire to connect several together and hang a garland from a mantel, around doors and at the edge of shelves. My neighbor grows Cypress and Cedar bushes and will let me take boughs off of them as long as I don’t do a hatchet job. So ask your neighbors if you can trim their bushes! You can use all kinds of things around the house to decorate them. Buttons, beads from broken jewelry, ribbons saved from gifts…

Need ideas on where to get affordable & classy Christmas decor =)?

Posted by admin on Nov 30, 2009 under christmas holiday decor

We are a young family on a budget with young kids (1 & 2 1/2), 2 dogs and 1 cat..we have our hands full : ) I absolutely LOVE the holidays and would like some advice on where I can get affordable, classy and some what kid-pet friendly Christmas decor. Also, what is your *theme*? I am trying to get ideas =D Thanx for your help!!! And Happy Holidays!!!!

One of the best places: Christmas Tree Shop!!! Love that store. It’s a year round discount store, but it’s great for holiday decor, gift wrap, gifts, just about everything. You will love the bargains, and it’s fun to always go since they change everything they have all the time.
If that’s not available to you, Target may be a good place, a local gift shop/general store can have some great unique ornaments, as well as Cracker Barrel gift shop.
I like all kinds of themes, but for now going by my eclectic cottage style, I’m collecting rustic old-fashioned classic decor for Christmas.

Don’t you just love how stores have had their Christmas decor out since Halloween?

Christmas isn’t a material holiday…or is it?

And for the ones that don’t understand, my question is one of extreme sarcasm.

yeah especially when you’re the goober who has to put the decorations up

Holiday decor for a gallery (outside)?

Posted by admin on Nov 30, 2009 under christmas holiday decor

I need to attract attention from the road.. The gallery looks like a little two story red house. It has a side yard that we could actually put up a tree or some kind of display if needed. What can I do as Christmas decor to attract attention and get people to come into the gallery? Thanks for advice!

Christmas decor is nice. Why not try to make a tree out of artsy items?

Make a sculpture piece.

Make a large ‘canvas’ out of plywood and paint a picture on it of an artist painting a Christmas theme painting!

See if there is a local place to rent oversize party props of things like Christmas Ornaments, etc. And you have to have lights, as long as there is not a city ordinance against them!

Where do you shop for your holiday decor?

Posted by admin on Nov 30, 2009 under christmas holiday decor

When Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas come around every year, where and how do you shop for your decor?

believe it or not target has great decor options if you catch them early when they start putting pre-season stuff out
