We have been planning on him spending christmas eve here, then the morning with our separate families and then christmas dinner with his family and it seemed perfect to us. Now my mother and sister are laying the guilt trips on me for missing our family dinner to spend time with his family. What should i do and how should holidays be spent when you are still dating, however we are planning on being engaged soon. =) I really want to keep peace here but either way I feel like I’m pissing someone off.

Me, I am having a very bad christmas holiday so far.

It’s not too good, I imagined for way better. To start with; my aunts & uncles always got me & my sister gifts, they said untill you get a job you’ll stop getting gifts. My sister has a job now, she’s been working there for about 7 months and she’s made over $2,000. They still got her gifts. To top it off, we got all the same gifts! It’s unbelievable. We both got an ugly sweater, $20 from one aunt, $25 from the other aunt, a $40 beautiful Victoria Secret perfume set & $100 from our dad. She’s over here complaining that she wants the brown sweater & not the purple one when she shouldn’t have even gotten anything. Then she doesn’t like her purfume set because she got the same one last year so she’s going to re-wrap it & give it to her friend instead of paying money to get her friend a real gift. She’s toooooo greedy with her money & that’s what upsets me more. People say look at what you have & not what other people have, but in this situation i can’t help but to think about it. She’s so ungrateful. So now, moving on to me. I’m not really content with my gifts either because I can’t believe she got everything the same as me! She wasn’t suppose to get anything at all. I really wanted $200 from my dad because he use to give us that amount about 3 years ago then I don’t know what happened all of a sudden. So now that $100 he gave me is going straight to a phone because he doesn’t want to get me one. Meaning now I can’t even go shopping because i’ll be spending all the money on the phone. I worked everything out with my mind set that I would recieve $200 from my dad. As a teenager, when we return to school after the holiday break, people want to see what new cloths & sneakers you got. I have none of that now! I really needed new boots for the snow too, this sucks. I’m highly upset but I guess I got to be grateful for what I have because I figure there’s some people in africa still starving. At least I got gifts & food to eat but I’m so sad to hear you’re having a not so well Holiday either :-\

I have two Christmas trees in my home this year. One is real decorated with new lights and ornaments. The other is an artificial tree from 1975 that is still in very good shape. It has some new ornaments and some that are handmade and dated going all the way back to the 60s. I believe in the real christmas holiday not in today’s interpretation and assault on Christmas.

I have some atheist friends that celebrate christmas, and I go to a catholic school and my religion teacher said that its a christian holiday, if so why do atheists celebrate it, I mean whats the difference between a atheist celebrating Hanukkah or Ramadan. And y would they celebrate it if they hate christians in the first place?

Christmas is nothing to do with either Christianity or Islam but it does have it’s origins in the midwinter festival and many other basically pagan rites but since much of it is a celebration of nature rather than religion everyone should be able to enjoy it and be happy together despite religion!!

The ancient European pagans celebrated the midwinter festival and a number of other festivals long before Christianity ever existed!

Babylonians celebrated the feast of the Son of Isis with gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift giving and the goddess of fertility, love, and war.

The Romans held a festival on 25 December called “Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, celebrating their own god Sol Invictas – PAGAN.

The Persian god Mithras, the Syrian sun god Elah Gabal, the German Sol, the Greek Helios and the Mesopotamian Shamash. But also Saturnalia, honouring Saturn, the God of Agriculture. The law courts and schools were closed. No public business could be transacted an this is where the holidays originated – ALL PAGAN!!!

In Rome groups of costumed went from house to house entertaining their people. And this was where the carolling Christmas tradition originated PAGAN!!

In Germania (not Germany) they celebrated midwinter night followed by 12 wild nights of eating and drinking. The 12 days of Christmas PAGAN!!

The church under Pope Julius I declared that Christ’s birth would be celebrated on December 25 in 350 AD in order to try to hijack the PAGAN festivals but it was largely ignored. Christians did not really celebrate Christmas until 378 but it was then dropped in 381 and not resurrected until 400.

The Christmas tree stems from pagan tradition and ritual surrounding the Winter Solstice, which included the use of holly boughs ivy and other foliage as an adaptation of pagan tree worship. Holly and ivy represented male and female. Mistletoe was considered a sacred plant, and the custom of kissing under the mistletoe began as a fertility ritual – all PAGAN!!

Santa Claus came from the Dutch “Sinterklaas” and was a tall figure riding a white horse through the air and usually accompanied by Black Peter, an elf who punished disobedient children. Also the origin of the reindeer, sleigh and the elves ALL PAGAN!!

The modern red coated Santa was brought about by coca cola!!

America actually banned Christmas several times and is the originator of the expression “Happy Holidays” which came about because of the pagan origins of Christmas to include all religions and traditions!!

The Venerable Bede, an early Christian writer pointed out that the Christian church absorbed Pagan practices when it found the population unwilling to give up the festivals. Thus a lot of what Christians now see as Christians practices are in fact pagan!!!

Christmas is the time of year christians strive to prove just how pagan they have become!!!

Looking for information on the reported threat in London over the christmas holiday, Does anyone have any information?

i think the terrorist should be diverted to target flights leaving from san diego to atlanta tomorrow afternoon. i mean if they just took a few of those out they could show london they really mean buisness.
