The Atheist Christmas Decor question really inspired me?

Posted by admin on Jan 3, 2010 under christmas holiday decor

I am thinking of seding one of these holiday cards this year… Which would you choose? Would you be offended if you recieved one? Happy shopping everyone…

As an added bonus…the last two contain this passage

December 25, by the Julian Calendar, was the winter solstice. This day, originally regarded by the pagans as the day of the nativity of the sun, the shortest day of the year — when the light began its conquering battle against darkness — was celebrated universally in all the ages of man.
Taken over by the Christians as the birthday of their mythological Christ, this ancient holiday, set by motions of the celestial bodies, survives as a day of rejoicing that good will and love will have a perpetual rebirth in the minds of men
Give me your vote for the best one…
There is also one that just says "Happy Festivus"

I am a Christian and I LOVE the last card in particular. I have been enlightened to the "reason" for the season and it isn’t Christs Birth… So I would enjoy that last card and the information contained in it. I might actually hang that one up. ( I accept the sentiment behind Christmas cards, but I don’t hang them and I don’t send them)

WILL CHRIST BE IN CHRISTMAS at the WHITE HOUSE This Year?

Posted by admin on Dec 23, 2009 under christmas holiday decor

Sources say that the Obamas are calling the White House trees and decor, HOLIDAY Trees, rather than the traditional CHRISTMAS Trees ~
Some decorators of past years are dropping out in dismay… what are your thoughts? Comments?
Thanks, Pennylee for clarifying… and this did not come to me as an Email!
Thanks for commenting, as always.

Wrong, there will be an Official Christmas Tree inside the White House, and the National Christmas Tree outside the White House, just as there are every year. The Congressional tree is a Holiday Tree.

Also, we’ve never been a Christian Nation, we have always been a nation with many Christians.

Cheep and easy dorm room Christmas decorating ideas?

Posted by admin on Dec 20, 2009 under christmas holiday decor

Hi! I’m in a dorm this holiday season. I just decorated my 4 ft. artificial Christmas tree. I had the tree and ornaments from previous years. I just finished gift-wrapping my desk drawers to add to the holiday decor. I have cut out snowflakes to attach to my closet door.

What are some other cheap but effective ways to decorate my dorm room?

I am thinking about getting red and green paper and making a paper chain to hang around the room. what else?

Sounds like you are doing great already! I had the same idea about the red & green construction-paper chain.
Hang a stocking up somewhere. Write your name on it with Elmer’s glue & glitter.
Scotch-tape all the Christmas cards you receive into a tree-shape on a door.
Put a snowglobe on top of a bookshelf, tv, or table.
Put red & green M&M’s or wrapped Hershey’s kisses into a candy dish.
Play some Christmas music in the background.

Have a very Merry Christmas! :)

What are some good, cheap ideas for Christmas decor?

Posted by admin on Dec 18, 2009 under christmas holiday decor

My parents have decided to not decorate this year, but I love holidays! They said I can’t do the rest of the house (they don’t want to have to clean it up) but I’m going to decorate my room. There isn’t a whole lot of space, and I don’t have the money to buy a christmas tree. So any ideas for something artsy craftsy I can do to decorate this year?
Great ideas! Hopefully I can find some cheap stuff at the Dollar Store. Thanks guys.

take any pictures on your wall and wrap them like you would do a present. Complete with ribbons and bows, then, hang them back up.

how ready are you for the christmas holidays?

Posted by admin on Dec 15, 2009 under christmas holiday decor

only 8 weeks left to decorate, shop, sign up to volunteer for a worthy cause of your choice.
we are ready, went through our decor and decided what to put out in nov. also most of shopping is done, and we have an animal sanctuary, i volunteer at the local hospital and do christmas for head start children and a local retirement home. and give to local mission to feed the poor, and local animal shelter .

OMG this is soooo my question. I LOVELOVELOVE Christmas; the magic,, the presents,, the decorations,, and of course the shows and movies!!

It’s by far my favorite holiday!! I started counting down a week ago – only 67 more days!!

I’m more ready than anyone could be! People think I’m a little crazy for being excited about Christmas when it’s not even Halloween,, but that’s just me,, how I’ve always been <3

We don’t put our tree & decorations up ’till the day after Thanksgiving though :/

And I think the animal sanctuary and what you do for the kids and older lives is amazing! Animals are the only talent I have other than Home Decorating (but alot of people don’t believe me b.c I’m only thirteen),, and I’m very passionate about saving and helping animals,, which is why I’m working at the Travis County SPCA when I turn eighteen. Oh,, and old people rock too xP
